Memories of treasures lost by DarkRiderDLMC Memories of treasures lost by DarkRiderDLMC
Bryce 7 Pro:

When I was just a little boy,
I got so much happiness and joy,
from the simple gift of a tiny toy.

Then the little boy faded,
into a man, dark and jaded,
his anger never close to sated.

Women came and women went,
money earned and money spent,
arrogant, proud, he never bent.

Now I'm old and facing death,
short on time, short on breath,
a blood-red soul in failing flesh.

But I still remember the toy,
the giver and the burst of joy,
which even time could not destroy.

Don't waste your time on empty dreams,
there's never as much time left as it seems,
life, love and health are all that truly gleams.

This render taught me things I didn't know about bryce water textures after all these years of using bryce.

Credit: The toy duckie is an Oyonale freebie and the cat-tails and swamp grass are from my friend ~RavynsWorld Swamp grasses product available on Renderosity and Content Paradise.

Good words to make a person think. I have a co-worker, someone I've known for 30 years, lying in a hospital. They can't figure out what is wrong with him.
It makes you think.

Always best to think while there's time - I found myself dying in a hospital knowing that my daughter still needed my protection.

Sucked muchly.

This is so imaginative. I love it. You really put it to together so well. The duck was a great touch.

Good One..  I love the water.  I don't know what the refraction is really for but sometimes it will darken a texture ..

That's a tweaked bryce preset, but it was seriously tweaked :D

Thought-provoking rhyme!!

What did you learn? How did you make the drop ripples in the water surface?

Not so thought provoking for me - I'm trying to find a sucker to trade futures with me if I throw in 50$ :D

The water is a bryce preset, but it's bright blue.  I started without the raindrops, and kept changing waters and then changing the water colors reflections and bumps, because the fog is an optical illusion.  Nothing looked right,  I finally decided on the raindrops because I figured if I was doing a render on my upcoming, epic last words and death rattle, I wanted heaven to be crying for me :D

But, no matter what I did, the preset water stayed bright all the way to the horizon.  Changing the color gave it the darker apppearance I was after, but it still went all the way back to the horizon.  In desperation, I changed the transparency - which I figured wouldn't matter since the fog was a reflective illusion.

Bulls-eye! I have a Bryce manual from when I upgraded from bryce 3D to bryce 4,0 Never read it, think I might :D

So, the raindrops are a preset, too; or are they an option in the texture pallatte?

They were in the preset, but the present wouldn't provide the fog.  The fog is just a white background reflecting off the water.

Thanks for the info. :highfive:
{ :whisper: I dont want to give DAZ anymore money.}

I'll use V2, or 3, or 5.5, when I get back into it.

I found 5.5 and 6 to be fine versions.  Until I got 7, a couple of years ago, I was using version 4.  I keep thinking of going back to 6 because the volume lights worked so much better there.
