This is a gift for a DA friend , who lost a friend of his today. Lily was a lovely, sleek albino serpent. I took great pleasure from looking at the pictures he posted of her (and his other snakes) and so, I guess this is both my gift to him and my goodbye to her.
Thank you for taking the time to create this tribute to Lily. Although I don't know Tyrannosaurus2007, the story of Lily and her passing hit me harder than I expected. It's nice to see people like yourself taking the time offer him something to remember her by.
People's pets become family, or in the place of older people, even children. She truly was a beautiful serpent.
It is telling, and saddening that the below is still in his current journal. The wording...
"Hi thanks for the help with trying to find Lily's illness. I am sad to say she died this morning at the vets after an opp for a Tumor on her lung. I am sorry but i will not have anymore picture of her."
You are quite welcome. I wish I was more talented as an artist so I could offer him something as well.
I agree with you about pets. When I was a kid, we had a black cat whose affection helped me survive our dad's alcoholism. I think I was about T.2007's age when "Blackie" passed after an extended illness and decline. I'm now in my early 50s and haven't had a pet since. Too painful.
As to his journal entry: When going through his Gallery and Favorites and seeing the recurring theme of dragons being killed in any number of gruesome ways, one needn't be psychic to conclude our friend is dealing with some issues. I'm probably guilty of "projecting" here, but I suspect that Lily was, for him, what Blackie was for me. If that's the case, he'll be grieving her passing for some time.
I don't know what your belief systems are, if any, so I apologize in advance if this offends you. I'm a "practicing Christian demonologist," in that my calling is to help people who are undergoing spiritual crises. As part of my training, I once spent about six years nightly in a local cemetery, learning how to interact with and photograph "spirit phenomena." Shot about 600 rolls of film, capturing everything from orbs and "psychic fog" to recognizable human faces, "creatures of the fantastic," and outright demonical entities.
I posted a few of my photos in my Gallery for a friend. My favorite is: [link]
(Some years ago I started a book on my research which I never finished. Since I noticed you are interested in writing, here's the prologue to my book in my Scraps if you are interested: [link] )
Over the years I learned to become sensitive to the "psychic content" of someone's words. I think that's why T.2007's journal entry and photos of Lily hit me so hard. After I read his journal, if I look at Lily I'll start crying as the grief washes over me. Both he and Lily will be in my prayers tonight.
